Gene H. Ludlow, 78, of Geneva-on-the-Lake, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
He was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Middlefield, the son of William P. and Margy G. (Hollenbeck) Ludlow.
He had worked for 32 years in Geauga County Road Department and retired as the Superintendent of the Highway Department. He was a member of the Geneva
Post No. 6846. He had worked for the Sturgeon Point Condos as a maintenance man for 15 years. He enjoyed golfing and played in two golf leagues; the Geauga County Engineers Golf League and the VFW golf League. He vacationed in Myrtle Beach every year but most of all he enjoyed visiting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Florida.
Surviving him are his wife, Elaine, whom he married Dec. 21, 1974; six children, Laurie (Mike) Keyes of Burton, Leesa Burzanko of Burton, Loren (Lynn) Ludlow of Orwell, Rick (Beth) Robinson of Mentor, Darrell (Wendy) Robinson of Huntsburg, and Richard Robinson of Bristolville; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kerry (Connie) Ludlow of Oak Dale, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. At his request there will be no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Geneva VFW Post No. 6846, the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League or to The Geneva-on-the-Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
