Ralph J. Ponsart, 87, of Euclid, passed away Jan. 14, 2014, at Gateway Nursing Home.
Born March 31, 1926, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Euclid for the past 52 years.
Mr. Ponsart was a World War II U.S. veteran, member of Shoregate United Methodist Church, member and usher of the former Masters Church, member of Acacia Masonic Lodge 651 (formerly Raymer Covenant Masonic Lodge), Woodward Council and Mount Olive Royal Arch, past patron of Western Reserve Order of Eastern Star and treasurer of Euclid High 12.
Mr. Ponsart retired after 44 years of employment as a foreman in the shipping and receiving department of General Electric at the Cleveland Bulb Plant.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years, M. Elynor (nee Wittrup); sons, David (Karla) and Allen (Michele); grandchildren, Laurianne, Katie, Greg and Kirsten; brother, Charles (Shirley) Ponsart; sister, Mary Lou D'Alessandris; and sister-in-law, Emmaline Michalski.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Agnes (nee O'Brock) Ponsart; brothers, Henry and Donald (Jan) Ponsart; sister, Elizabeth (Melvin) Kirchner; and brother-in-law, Louis D'Alessandris.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Road and Route 91). Masonic services will be at 4 p.m.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at the funeral home. Dr. Tom Snowde will officiate. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, with military honors.
Family suggests contributions may be made in Ralph's memory to Euclid Senior Center, 1 Bliss Ave., Euclid, OH 44123.
