James Edward Hollis Obituary
James Edward Hollis, age 77, of Willoughby, went home to be with the Lord and reunited with his mother and two brothers on Friday, April 18, 2014. He passed away at home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on Oct 6, 1936, in Indianapolis, Ind.
James was a beloved son of the late James E. and Martha (Beasley) Hollis.
He had a true passion for the game of tennis, sailing and loved to travel. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and always came around with a smile on his face.
James enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1957 and received an honorable discharge in 1962. He was a member of the American Legion Palmer-Roberts Post #214 in Willoughby. He was employed at Kennametal in 1969 until his retirement in 1996. James was Director of the Wickliffe Jaycee's from 1969 to 1970. He was also the President of the Wickliffe Scholarship Foundation from 1973 to 1974.
James is survived by his sister, June Hamilton; son, John David Hollis (Karin); daughter, Jackie Lynn Hollis; nieces, Susan (Roger) Elliott and Debbie Rood; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and many great nephews and nieces.
James is preceded in death by his father, Edward Hollis; mother, Martha Beasley; brother, Donald M. Hollis and twin brother Jack Hollis.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the Orlando-Donsante Funeral Home, 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe 44092.
Memorial Service will be at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
