William A. "Bill" Downing, 79, a longtime resident of Eastlake, formerly of Mentor, went Home to be with his Savior May 3, 2014 at his residence.
He was born May 28, 1934 in Buffalo, NY.
Mr. Downing was a truck driver for Eagle Freight for the past 20 years, prior to that he had worked as a machinist for Eaton Axle in Cleveland.
He attended Bible Community Church, enjoyed boating and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judith A. "Judy" (Pfeffer); daughters, Deborah "Debi" (Del) Blevins of NC and Diana (George IV) Chapes of AZ; grandchildren, Amanda (David) Goodwin, Hillary (fiancé William Cuda) Case, Nathan Blevins and Natalyn Blevins; great grandchildren, Aleighna and Adasyn Goodwin; beloved dog Memi.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thurman and Ruth Downing.
Funeral service will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Family will receive friends 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Mayfield Heights.
