William George "Bill" Armstrong Obituary

William "Bill" George Armstrong, 82, passed away on May 7, 2014.
He is the son of the late Fred and Virginia Fogel Armstrong.
In his early life, Bill worked on the fishing boats in Lake Erie with the Kishman Fish Company in Grand River. He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on a small carrier ship. After his service, Bill worked for Uniroyal before becoming a licensed boiler operator for Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company and Lake Hospital System. He was a graduate of Thomas W. Harvey High School.
Bill is survived by his sons, Matthew and wife Nicole, Michael and wife Jennifer, Patrick and wife Debbie; step-daughter Karen Broadie, daughter-in-law, Linda Somppi; long-time companion Louise Hall and her family, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Lansberry; brothers, James ""Jim"" Armstrong, Fred (Judy) Armstrong.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Henry); his step-son, Richard Somppi; and his brothers, Donald and Roger.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services will be held at Spear-Mulqueeny 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville. Calling hours are Monday, May 12, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and the funeral is Tuesday, May 13, at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Painesville.
Donations can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve 5786 Heisley Rd. Mentor, OH 44060 in lieu of flowers.
