GILMER — Funeral services for Royce L. Hudgins Sr., 92, of Gilmer, will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Gilmer, with Larry W. Osborne and the Rev. Blake Lander officiating. Interment will be in Gilmer City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Hudgins passed away Friday, February 8, 2013, in Gilmer.
Mr. Hudgins was born November 19, 1920, in Gilmer, to Harvey Leon and Doris Truitt Hudgins. He was owner of Hudgins Store in Gilmer for more than 70 years, a veteran of World War II in the Army Air Corps and a member of the First Baptist Church in Gilmer.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Bud and Nancy Hudgins of Gilmer, David "Scoot" and Paula Hudgins of Waxahachie and Mark Hudgins of Gilmer; grandchildren and spouses, Trace Hudgins and wife, Pam, Racheal Roberts and husband, Bob, Shirley Wilson and husband, Ernie, Mandy Compton and husband, Chris and Jennifer Elkey and husband, Phillip; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve Stewart, David Stevenson, John Finney, Wayne Arnold, Barry Smith and Dwight Brannon.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. today, February 10, 2013, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
