GLADEWATER — David R. Harris, 77, met his Lord on February 15, 2013, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, with Todd Clifton and Leonard Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Gladewater Memorial Park with Leon Bates officiating.
Family will meet friends from 6-8 p.m. today, February 20, 2013, at the funeral home in Gladewater.
Born April 14, 1935, to Russell David and Mabel Hillbrandt Harris in Saginaw, Michigan, David attended Arthur Hill Trade School in Saginaw, Kilgore College and Harding University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-58. Later, David worked in various occupations including accounting, before retiring.
David enjoyed being a part of the Unforgettable Tuesday's Day Club and teaching Bible classes. He took pride in caring for his flowers and working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ward Harris; sons, Russell David Harris and A. Scott Harris; sister, Arlene Walker; grandchildren, Carolyn Anne, Megan Michelle and David Russell; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mabel Harris; and his spouse of 46 years, Carolyn Phillips Harris.
The family wishes to thank the 6th floor nurses at Good Shepherd Medical Center and Texas Home Health.
