HUGHES SPRINGS — Herman L. Roach, 86, formerly of Hughes Springs, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 22, 2013. Herman was born January 8, 1927, in Hamilton, Ohio, to William Henry and Nora (Alcorn) Roach, one of seven children. He grew up in Miamisburg, Ohio, where he attended Miamisburg city schools.
Herman was employed by and retired from Delco Moriane, a division of General Motors
, in 1980, after 30 years of service. He was a member of Local 696 Autoworkers Union and a member of the 25-Year Club.
Prior to moving to Northeast Texas, Herman and his wife, Minie, resided in Eaton, Ohio, where he enjoyed farming and hunting. They were former members of Sugar Valley United Methodist Church.
After retiring, Herman and Minie spent many enjoyable hours fishing in Lake Okechobee, Florida, where they resided prior to moving to Hughes Springs.
After moving to Hughes Springs, he and Minie joined Veal Switch Baptist Church, where they were quite active.
Herman was preceded in death by his wife, Minie; his parents; sisters, Flossie (Miller) Roach, Carrie (Abner) Roach and Helen Roach; brother, Ronald Roach; and great-grandson, Dillon Roach.
He is survived by sons, Michael Roach (Patsy), Stephen Roach (Vicki) and Larry Roach (Siemone); five grandsons; three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; brother, David (Marie) Roach; and sister, Wanda (Warmouth) Roach.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Veal Switch Baptist Church, with Bro. Curt Beadle officiating. Interment will take place in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton, Ohio. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 p.m. today, September 24, 2013, at the funeral home.
