Norma Wayland Knight was born October 11, 1930, in Occoquan, Viriginia, to R.J. and Florence Wayland. She graduated from Osbourn High School in Manassas, Virginia, in 1949, and lived there for many years. While living in Virginia she worked as a bookkeeper in the family business of Wayland-Knight and also served as the head of personnel for Prince William County for 11 years. She was instrumental in establishing the Manassas Church of Christ and was very active with that congregation. Norma had the gift of hospitality and she offered her home, her services, and her love to many over the years.
In 1978, she moved with her family to Longview, Texas, where she was a member of the Alpine Church of Christ. She taught youth bible classes for several years and used her home style cooking to show her love to many friends. Later, she briefly lived in Plano, Texas, but returned to Longview to enjoy her grandchildren where she lived until her death.
Norma loved her family, as well as her wonderful church family. She loved the holiday seasons, cooking for friends and family and cheering for her favorite sports teams. She was a very generous friend who showed her love through extravagant gift-giving and good conversation. She leaves a legacy of joy, faith and love of family.
Survivors include her sons, C.A. Sinclair and wife Andrea of Manassas, Virginia, Jay Knight and wife Teresa of Longview, Texas, and Todd Knight and wife Jacque of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Mallory Williams of Richardson, Texas, Meredith and Trey Knight of Longview, Texas; and sister, Gloria Wayland of Richmond, Virginia.
