LONGVIEW — Services for Robert Levi Sendling, 84, of Longview, will be 10:30 a.m. today, February 13, 2013, at the chapel of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road, in Longview, with the Rev. James Craver and the Rev. Dick Lindsey officiating. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. in Rosewood Park Cemetery in Longview. Mr. Sendling passed away Monday, February 11, 2013, at a local hospital.
Mr. Sendling was born May 3, 1928, in Reynoldsville, West Virginia, to Willie and Hazel Hughes Sendling. He was a machine operator at Sonoco Paper Product and Texas Eastman. Mr. Sendling served in the U.S. Marine Corps
during World War II
and in Korea.
He taught Sunday school at Central Baptist Church in Longview and also worked with Royal Ambassadors. He was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church, the Prime Time Sunday school class, Pine Tree Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Shriners in Waco and the Sharon Shrine Temple of Tyler.
Mr. Sendling loved working in his yard, fishing and most of all his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Hazel Sendling; and brothers, Donald and Virgil.
Mr. Sendling is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise Stroud Sendling of Longview; daughter, Robin Sendling Muench and husband, Tom, of Henderson; grandson, Anthony Thomas Muench; daughter, Lacy Sendling Maxey and husband, Bryan, of Longview; granddaughters, Lainy Elizabeth Johnson, Maggie Ann Maxey and Malorie Clare Maxey; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Watkins, Stella Anderson and Joan Sendling.

The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Welch Funeral Home.
