Services for E. A. Gruver, 85, of Longview, are scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 4619 Judson Road, with the Rev. Sam Goude officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche, Texas. Mr. Gruver passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009, at his residence.
He was a member of White Oak Church of God, East Texas Literacy Council, Texas Retired Teachers Association and the 109th EVAC Hospital Unit. He had worked for Gilmer I.S.D. as an Assistant Principal, English teacher and History teacher. He married Letha Mae Brinson on June 5, 1949, in Brownwood, Texas. Mr. Gruver is survived by his wife, Letha of Longview; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Deana Gruver of Garland, and Gayle and Lou Gruver of Fort Worth; daughters, Grace Gruver of Kingwood, and Jean Coffman of Longview; nieces, Fern Langford and Myrtle Cloteau; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
