Warren Anderson Obituary

Warren "Andy" Anderson, known as "Andy" and "Buddy" by his family and friends, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at the age of 92. Andy was born in Buffalo, New York, and graduated from Syracuse University. He served as a B-17 rescue pilot in World War II and believes he may have been the first American pilot to land in Japan after the war ended. He had a long business career with Westinghouse and a number of other companies. He was elected to the City Council of Mount Vernon, Ohio, and served as the city's Safety Service Director for several years. He moved to Ormond Beach in 1980 with his wife, Mary Kay, and has enjoyed the area for many years, logging countless enjoyable hours at the beach and in the ocean. Andy was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mary Kay, who passed away in 2004. He is survived by his son, Warren and his wife Catherine of Monterey, California; daughters Karen Lapointe and her husband Steve of Ormond Beach; Nancy O'Brien and her husband Paul of Charlotte, North Carolina; and his grandchildren, Laura, Alisa, Connor, and Kevin. Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Lohman Funeral Home in Ormond Beach. A service will be held at St. Brendan Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made in Andy's honor to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia / Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com.

I love you very much! We had a great time together. You will forever be "my guy" and I'll always be "your girl". I know you are relaxing in the sun with your beloved Mary Kay. Thank you for being my friend and for all you have brought to my life. Rest in peace my sunshine. I love you.
