Funeral service for Helen Rebecca Ashby, age 74, of Sharon, Pennsylvania, who died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 17 at First United Methodist Church, New Smyrna Beach, with the Reverend Mark Stiles, officiating. Burial will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Calling hours will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, September 16 at Settle-Wilder Chapel, New Smyrna Beach. Mrs. Ashby was born in Youngstown, Ohio, but spent most of her life in this area. Survivors include one son, William Ashby, New Smyrna Beach; one daughter, Teresa Ashby, Sharon, Pennsylvania; one daughter-in-law, Mary Wilkes, Live Oak, Florida; two granddaughters, Rebecca (Nicholas) Garlick, Jacksonville, Florida, and Amanda Ashby, Port Orange; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Garlick, Jacksonville; one sister, Charlotte Lawrence of Ohio; and one niece, Paula Ashby, Port Orange. Mrs. Ashby was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Ashby, Sr.; one son, Mark Wilkes; her parents, Charles F. and Elizabeth Corey Wilkes; two brothers, Clyde Wilkes and Charles Wilkes, Jr.; and a sister, Evelyn McGee.
