Samuel J. Catalane, Sr., age 91, of South Daytona, passed away on February 26, 2013. A visitation was held at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona Thursday, February 28, 2013 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 a.m., today (Friday, March 1, 2013) at Epiphany Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery. Samuel was born on June 23, 1921 in Syracuse, New York to the late William and Lena (Corso) Catalane. He was a graduate of Syracuse and Niagara University. Following college Samuel enlisted in the United States Navy serving proudly during World War II in the European, African and Pacific Middle East Theater. He was awarded with the Victory Medal for his service. Samuel was a cost analyst for General Electric, NASA, and later retired from Westinghouse. He enjoyed golf, college basketball, and coaching little league teams, especially his children's. He leaves behind seven children; and nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler at 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Dad when I was in high school you always said "Don't wish time away because when you get older, it goes so fast and you cant get it back". Now I know what you mean. As individuals you and mom were amazing-but together you were unstoppable! So together you are and time no longer has a hold on you!
