Folsom, Sarah*
We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sarah Frances Owens Folsom of Lake Helen, Florida on September 19, 2016. Mom was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Albert and Mary Owens. Shortly after, Sarah's family moved to DeLand, Florida. She graduated from DeLand High class of 1946, where she met and married her husband of 50 years, Fred Folsom. Together they had five children, Fred and Terry Folsom Jr., Chris and Linda Folsom, Teri and John Hawkins, Nina and Russell Russ, and Carmen Folsom. "She was our voice of an angel." She studied music and voice under Lillian Wells. Singing became her passion and she performed for ceremonies, churches, and charity events. Late in life, she became the main caregiver for our Father. She was a wonderful wife and mother. And she will always be missed. Sarah had eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved always. Sarah had a large family that meant everything to her. We will miss her infectious smile and her beautiful songs. Preceding her was her beloved husband Fred and her loving sisters, Dorthy Buffo and Mary Leahan. Please join us in celebrating her life at Blake Memorial Baptist Church in Lake Helen on Sunday, October 2nd at 3:00 P.M.
