BRIAN ADKINS

Everyone in a kin system contributes to the whole family unit. In Brian Adkins' case, he was our beloved goofball; a quick wit, a hollowing laugh, a smile that could light up a room of people. He had more charms than a Hallmark Store, or as his wife Kahlin says, "Brian was a goofy, hilarious guy who could get a laugh out of anyone." Sadly, we won't have that sunshine to share any longer. Brian Wesley Adkins, 33, Ormond Beach, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born Dec. 7, 1978. Brian graduated from Flagler Palm Coast High School in 1997, where he met and fell in love with Kahlin, and attended Daytona State College. Brian worked at various restaurants during his life and was a self-taught, culinary genius, who would dazzle friends and family with extraordinary dishes and modestly explain, "It was just something I whipped together." And there is one more characteristic we will all miss; Brian's sense of humanity; some would describe as generous to a fault. "He was a caring and compassionate man, who put all others above himself," Kahlin said. In addition to Kahlin, Brian's survivors include his parents, Linda and Robert Adkins, Flagler Beach; brother, Scott Adkins and his fiancé, Mariah Matton; maternal grandparents, Joyce & Bill Goudie; aunt and uncle Tom and Barbara Adkins, Daytona Beach; cousins Rick and Karen Bayliff, Ormond Beach, Marcos and Rene Colon, Orlando; father-in-law, Godwin and his wife, Diane Kelly; brother-in-law, Casey Kelly; sister-in-law, Elyse Kelly; and other in-laws, Denise and Joe Kelly, Brop and Random Burnett and Emmet Kelly. A memorial mass will be said 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Daytona Beach, with Father Phil officiating. A celebration of Brian's life will follow immediately after mass at the church. To share a memory with the family, visit BaldwinCremation.com
