CAROL LEONORE "JONNIE" (ROBINSON) BERROTH

Carol Berroth of DeLand passed away May 3, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born December 15, 1925 in Coxsackie, New York to Ralph and Josephine (Cybulski) Robinson, raised her family in Tonawanda, New York and retired to DeLand, Florida in 1985. Ms. Berroth was a powerful and courageous woman who pioneered the way from a shy small town girl in New York's Hudson Valley to the corporate world as Manager of Salary Planning at Union Carbide in Tarrytown, New York. She was the first woman at her company to be granted a leave of absence for political reasons when she accepted a short term assignment in Washington DC as assistant to one of New York's Congressman in 1975. Her adventurous spirit included flying lessons, a hot air balloon ride and sky diving. She was an avid reader of nonfiction and loved to learn new things. Some of her favorite pastimes were growing and harvesting fruit from her yard, preparing organic vegetarian foods, designing greeting cards and custom bookmarks featuring the watercolor and pastel artwork she created, and attending a variety of musical programs featuring local artists. She loved DeLand and was so grateful to live in such a beautiful city and have such great friends. She was Mother of Carol Ann Parker, Leonard Ralph Berroth, and the late Peter Paul (Karen) Berroth; Grandmother of Leonard (Kim) Calianno, Steven Calianno, Christopher Berroth and Edison Parker; Great Grandmother of Charis Calianno and Madison Berroth; Sister of Henry Robinson, the late Helen Bak, the late Ralph Robinson and the late Mary Bellia; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
