Cecil M. Burnette, 75, died Monday, March 4, at his home in Houston, Texas. Born in Bristol, Virginia, he was predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Mamie Burnette, and a sister, Jane Smith, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Survivors include his sister, Kitty Maiden; and brother Bob Burnette, in the Daytona area; and numerous nieces and nephews. He grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida, graduated from Seabreeze High School and attended the University of Florida
. Cecil served in the U.S. Army. He worked at the Daytona Beach News-Journal prior to moving to Houston where he was Advertising Manager at the Houston Post, before starting his own business, Mid-Town Printing. Cecil was co-founder of his church in Texas where he centered his life, surrounded by many caring friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 7 at 3 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 3701 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange.
