Charlie A. (Tootsie) Disher


Charlie A. (Tootsie) Disher, 91, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Florida Hospital DeLand. He served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Disher lived most of his life in New York primarily on Long Island. He worked in NY City as a commercial photographer. Mr. Disher and his wife of 67 years, Antoinette (Toni) moved to the DeLand area in 1986. The Dishers enjoyed membership at the Southridge Golf Club and played avidly with their many friends. Charles is survived by his wife; a daughter Carol Schryver (Ken); and a son Tom Disher (Kathy). He was also adorded by his four granddaughters, Kerrie, Kimberly (D.J.), Danielle and Rebecca. He also doted on his cat, Peppy. A service celebrating a long and wonderful life will be held on Wednesday, December 4th at 3pm at the Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm prior to the service. The family request in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the West Volusia Humane Society, 1201 Grand Avenue, DeLand, FL 32720.
