Cora Lee Caldwell-Perry born November 18, 1947 in Jasper, FL, a gift from God, to the union of, the late A.C. Caldwell & Pauline Caldwell. After a long and courageous battle with illness surrounded by family and friends on Monday, November 12, 2012 Cora peacefully passed away. She leaves behind one daughter, Tonja Johnson (Barritt) Daytona Beach, FL; brothers, Samuel McPhcrson (Mattie) Tampa, FL, Henry J. Caldwell SR. (Sharon) Daytona Beach, FL; sisters, Henrietta Taylor West Palm Beach, FL, Dorothy Lee Phillips, Daytona Beach, FL and Mary Lee McClenton, Gainesville, FL. She was preceded in death by two sisters Doris Johnson and Marie Perry. Grandchildren DeShawu Jones, LaTesha Me Arthur, Brittney Johnson and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. She was an energetic child and grew into a vivacious young woman. She received Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was educated in the Volusia School System and later attended the Job Corps where she obtained a certificate in electronic technology. She met and married her husband Ocenus Perry in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Two years later she relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio to pursue her career in electronics. In 1969 she returned to Daytona Beach, FL where she continued to pursue her career in electronics with G.E Corporation. She developed a passion for caregiving and later was a caregiver for several families. Cora loved and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her hobbies were fishing, playing cards, gardening and music. She had a great passion for her grandchildren as well as other children. Her door was always open to strangers. She loved entertaining with family and friends. With her caring personality she touched many lives. All who knew her grew to love her! Celebration of Life will be Sat., Nov. 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Herbert Thompson Funeral Home. Visitation will be today (Friday, Nov. 16) from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
