Florian Belanich, 82, of Palm Coast, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. Mr. Belanich was born March 24, 1931 in New York City, a son of John and Catherine Budinich Belanich. He graduated from Brooklyn High School of Automotive Trades. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he received the Army Occupation Medal, Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1953. He worked for General Motors in Sleepy Hollow, New York, where he and his wife owned and operated the A&M Printing Company. Mr. Belanich then worked as the Head of Security for Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. He and his wife retired and moved to Palm Coast in 1998. Mr. Belanich was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church, the Disabled American Veterans in Flagler Beach, the Elks Lodge #2709 in Palm Coast, and the Palm Coast Stamp and Coin Club. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elvira Belanich whom he married April 16, 1955; four daughters, Donna Duarte of Peekskill, NY., Janet (Carmine) Azzaro of Yonkers, NY., Mary Ann (George) Cacchiani of Hawthorne, NY., and Lisa (Mario) Scappaticci of Sleepy Hollow, NY; one brother, John (Barbara) Belanich of Port Washington, NY; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Jenna, Carmine, Michael, Matthew, Anthony, Nicole, Daniel, and Thomas; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Belanich. Family and friends will be received today from 4-7 pm and Saturday from 9:00-9:30 at the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road, in Flagler Beach. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 am at the St. Mary Catholic Church, 89 St. Mary Place in Bunnell, with Father Slawomir Podsiedlik, officiating.
