Gary Hamilton, 65, of Edgewater, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Gary was born October 12, 1947 in Alhambra, CA. He was a Class of '65 graduate of Mainland High School and Warner Southern College and served in the Army National Guard. Gary was President of Coastal Restoration Systems, Inc. and worked as an environmental consultant in beach and river restoration and marine construction. He was co-founder of the Halifax and Indian River Task Force and initiated coastal and river cleanup educational programs thru the creation of Peter Pelican, the Sea Stars and Officer Sam. He was a member of Tomoka Christian Church, the Explorers Club and a charter member of the Volusia County Beach Trust Commission. Gary is survived by two daughters, Angela Hamilton Duff and her husband Chris and Amanda Spear Hamilton; mother, June Marie Hamilton; sister Judy Hamilton Guess and her husband Wayne; a brother, Ron Almon Hamilton and his wife Karen; four grandchildren, Jaegar Hamilton Platt, Jamie Duff, Jonathan and Kaliegh Esparza. Memorial donations may be made to the Tim Tebow Foundation, 2220 County Road, 210 W, Suite 108 PMB 317, Jacksonville, FL 32259. A memorial service to celebrate Gary's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12th, at Tomoka Christian Church.
