Geraldine Barberie, 78, born in Brooklyn, NY, and long time area resident since the late 40's, passed away peacefully on December 3rd, from cancer. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service in her honor will be held on Friday, Dec. 7th, at 11:00 a.m. Both visitation and services will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Geraldine was the daughter of Cecil John Bruner and Mary Bruner. She grew up around NASCAR as her father was the original flagman for racing on the beach, and her mother registered and paid the race drivers. She was a lifetime member of the Women's Auxiliary of Motorsports, an Honorary Official of NASCAR in the late 70's, and a member of Living Legends of Auto Racing. Geraldine loved spending time at the LLOAR Museum, assisting with the various events. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and pets. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Barberie for 58 years and loving mother of Mary Barberie (Steven) Willman, Frank (Trudy) Barberie III; and sister of the late Johnny Bruner, Jr. Geraldine had five grandchildren, John and Ryan Varnadoe, Shad (Janet) and Curtis Barberie, and Sara (Phil) Kubota. She had four great-grandchildren, Lexi Varnadoe, Mikayla, Richie and Tyler Barberie. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona Beach.
