Geraldine (Jerry) Murchison, 89, of Daytona Beach, moved to Heaven on December 11th, 2012. Jerry was born in Fern Creek Kentucky, December 12th, 1922, to Leslie and Ella Gray. Jerry graduated from Western Kentucky Teachers College with a degree in Physical Education. After serving in the Navy she went on the GI bill to Northwestern University and became one of 20 graduates with a Certificate in Physical Therapy in 1949. It was in here in Chicago where she met and married the late Jack Murchison on March 18th 1949. After living many years in Southern California, Jerry, Jack and their two daughters moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1972. Jerry and Jack remained happily married for 55 years before Jack's homegoing in 2005. Jerry worked for over 40 years as a Physical Therapist primarily in pediatric PT and early intervention and she was known as "Ms. Easter Seal" in Volusia County. Jerry loved God and loved people and her big heart was known around town for more than just her work as a therapist. She was an Elder at Highlands Presbyterian church for many years, teaching Sunday school, and contributing to many of the programs there. Later she became a vital part of Christ United Methodist church, Holly Hill, again participating in bible study and other church programs. Jerry volunteered for nearly 20 years for Halifax Urban ministries serving hot meals and joyfully participating in their program. She is survived by her dearly loved daughters Marian Bain (Weatherford, TX) and Marti Winterhalter and son-in-law Sterling Winterhalter, (Pleasanton, CA); grandchildren George Bain and Alex Winterhalter. In addition, Jerry is survived by her beloved sisters Georgie Frey (Ormond Beach, FL) and Martha Reapsome (Downers Grove, IL), as well as her much-loved nieces, nephews and their families. There will a celebration of Jerry's life on January 4th, 2013 at 3pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 962 Derbyshire Road, Holly Hill, FL 32117.
