- Helen Jane Baker, long-time resident of Ormond Beach, Florida was born February 22, 1923, and is survived by two sisters, Betty Moore (Ormond Beach, FL), JoAnn Smith (Titusville, FL); and one brother Jack Spradling (Florence, MS). Helen has two surviving children JoAnn Hornstein (Waller, TX) and Tim Baker (Chattanooga, TN). She has four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Helen managed Embry's restaurant in Ormond Beach, FL for many years and also owned the "Clean It Mend It" cleaning and alteration business with her sister Nona Fox in the 60s. Helen drove a Volusia County school bus in the 70s and retired from driving bus #105 to go into full time ministry. She moved around quite a bit living in Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Arizona, Colorado, Alabama, Texas and Florida. Most recently she was living with her daughter JoAnn in Waller, TX. She will be deeply missed by many family and friends all over the U.S.; and we are all better for knowing her. Funeral service for Helen will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 am at Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill with Mr. Nelson Alsup officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Rest Cemetery. Friends wishing to call and pay their respects may do so Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
