JACKSON ELWOOD SMITH

Jackson Elwood Smith, 72, passed away Friday, September 28 in DeLand, FL. Mr. Smith was born March 9, 1940 in Milton, West Virginia to Virgil and Alice Smith. He moved to Florida in 1980 coming from Ohio. He worked as a Mason and brick layer in the construction industry before retiring. He loved to fish offshore, enjoyed gardening and tinkering with building things. When Jack was at a party, folks knew there would be fun and chaos. There was always a laugh; whether it was "at him" or " with him", but always fun. He is survived by his children: Virgil Smith and his wife Lori, Dana Smith and his fiancé Angela, Bruce Smith and Tracy Potts and her husband Dustin: eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters. A celebration of his life will be held at the VFW in DeLand on Saturday, October 20th at 4:00 PM. Altman-Long Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. (386) 668-8880
