James "Jay" Lupo

James "Jay" Lupo, 59, of Palm Coast, passed away on Thursday, January 23rd, 2014. James was born on September 2nd, 1954, in Jersey City, NJ (Exit 129). Son of the late Lillian (Biederman) and Stephen Lupo. He graduated from Hudson Catholic High School (Class of '72), and was Voted Offensive MVP as All-County center, for the Hudson Catholic Football Team, and MVP for the Track Team (shot put). James also attended Ramapo College of New Jersey. Jay retired from the West Palm Beach Fire Department after 20 years as both a firefighter and EMT, following a career as a Police officer in Belle Glade. James also worked at Belle Terre Swim and Racquet Club, of Palm Coast. He is survived by his daughter, Angelique Lillian Skaggs, son-in-law, Mitch Skaggs, of Bristol, TN; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Debra (Lupo) of Brunswick, ME; Pierre Czernowski, of West Palm Beach, who is better known as, "Jay's other brother," who reminisced about the day Jay had given his heart to the Lord; Pierre knew that he could always count on an abundance of laughter when the two of them were together, and that day in St. Augustine, 2006, was no exception. James departed this life in the arms of Jesus. He was also survived by his dearest friend, Cathleen Schumacher (Koehler), of Palm Coast; and Nick Gillies, of Palm Coast, who thought of Jay as a second father. James, a huge Packers fan, enjoyed spending time among close friends whom he adored, working out; reading, traveling; kayaking; swimming; racquetball; tennis; and always cherished time at the beach with his canine friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Jay's love of animals, to Flagler County Humane Society (386) 445-1814, or an animal shelter that is close to your heart.
