JIM TRESSLER Obituary


A celebration of life for Jim Tressler, 88, who departed this life Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at the Terrace of Daytona Beach, will be held Monday at 3:00 pm at the Dale Woodard Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave, Holly Hill with Pastor Bill Smith officiating. Calling hours for friends and family are one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Jim was born on March 2, 1924 in Bloomsburg, PA to Raymond and Renna Tressler. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a military police officer. He moved to Florida in 1963 transferring his real estate license from Pennsylvania to Florida. He and his wife Tina opened and managed their own real estate brokerage company for over 20 years in Daytona Beach. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years as a letter carrier in the Daytona area. Jim was an active member of Living Waters Church for many years. His true passion was working at the Homeless Coalition giving freely of his time helping those in need and lending a compassionate and unjudgemental ear. He enjoyed all outdoor activities especially biking and swimming with family and friends and attending all Daytona Cub baseball games and local sporting events. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Tina and also a brother Ned Tressler of Exchange, PA. He has three nephews, Dr. Terry Tressler, Harrisburg, PA, Gary Tressler, Rosendale, NY and Steven Tressler, Montoursville, PA; one grandniece and three grand nephews; his faithful niece Joyce Lawton, Fredericksburg, VA; Always a loving and devoted father and friend to his daughter Gail Davis and son-in- law Clarence Davis, Daytona Beach. The family would like to express their appreciation for all the loving care and support from The Terrace, Visiting Angels and Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Visiting Angels Homecare, 185 Cypress Point Pkwy Suite 5, Palm Coast, FL 32164 of The Homeless Assistance Corporation, 340 North Street, Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
