Marjorie M. Hager, (91), of Ormond Beach, died Thursday, January 24, 2013. She was born July 7, 1921, in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, to Harold and Florence (Richards) McClanahan. After graduating from high school, Mrs. Hager attended the University of Minnesota
, recieving a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology in 1943. She married John A. Hager of Reedsburg, Wisconsin on September 18, 1943, in Wickford, Rhode Island. He preceded her in death in 1989. Mrs. Hager worked in Daytona Beach from 1954 through 1975 as a Medical Technologist. Her outside interests included volunteer work at her church and as an advocate for the humane treatment of animals, specifically the greyhound rescue program. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach, where she sang in the choir and filled many volunteer positions. Mrs. Hager remarried in 1995 to Harold L. Church of Daytona Beach, who preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Scott Hager (Lee) of Marietta, Georgia and Alan R. Hager (Deborah) of Pensacola, Florida; two grandsons Aaron (Kelly) and Brandt (Nicole); two great-grandsons, Avery and Knox; and her nephew James McClanahan who resides in Palm Coast. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach located at 336 S. Halifax Drive in Ormond Beach, FL 32176, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her church or Greyhound Pets of America, 960 S. Williamson Blvd., Daytona Beach, Florida 32114.
