A mass of Christian burial for Michael R. Prompovitch, 85, Ormond Beach, who passed away on November 20, 2012, will be celebrated Monday, December 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Brendan's Catholic Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd., Ormond Beach with Father Tom Barrett as celebrant. Military honors with inurnment will take place on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at Shady Rest Cemetery, Holly Hill. Friends wishing to call and pay their respects may do so Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 pm at Dale Woodward Funeral Chapel by the Sea, 1780 Ocean Shore Blvd., Ormond Beach. Mr. Prompovitch was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and moved to this area in 1979 from Manassas, Virginia. He retired from the CIA after 30 years with specialty in Eastern Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East and was also a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Prompovitch was a member of St. Brendan's Catholic Church and the Sunset Hills Lions Club, Daytona Beach where he was a past Regional Chairman, past president and past zone director and recently became a member of the Ormond By the Sea Lions Club. A volunteer for the Library of the Blind, working with Guide dogs and Meals on Wheels, he enjoyed the computer, chess, golf, fishing, reading and was a world traveler. He was predeceased by his wife Rose and a son Mathew. Survivors include his children, Terry A. Prompovitch, Ormond Beach, Michael R. Jr. and his wife Martha, Sterling, VA and David and his wife, Asa, Sterling, VA; and five grandchildren, Justin M. Prompovitch, Sterling, VA, Emily Prompovitch Shepherd, Stevensville, MD, Gregory D. Prompovitch, Largo, FL Christoffer D. Prompovitch and Alexander D. Prompovitch, Sterling, VA.
