A funeral service for Nita Y. O'Neal, 66, of Ormond Beach, who passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Florida Memorial Hospital in Daytona Beach, will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:00pm at Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Avenue, Holly Hill. The interment will follow the service at Volusia Memorial Park. Those wishing to call and pay their respects may do so the night before on Monday, February 25, from 4:00pm- 7:00pm at the funeral home. Born Juanita Yvonne D'Antino in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Delores Bissiere D'Antino. She was married to William T. "Tommy" O'Neal, May 4, 1973. In 1959, Nita and her family moved to the Daytona Beach area, where she was a 1964 graduate of Mainland High School, and went on to receive her certification as a licensed practical nurse in 1965 from Daytona Beach Junior College. Nita enjoyed her career in nursing both in Florida and the state of Georgia for nearly twenty years, prior to joining her husband, who was on a work assignment in Saudi Arabia, where they lived for three years. Nita was a member of the Calvary Christian Church in Ormond Beach. She was a kind woman who enjoyed helping those less fortunate than herself. Nita loved to travel and visited most parts of the world with her husband, with whom she also enjoyed a second career as a real estate investor and property manager. She dearly loved her three pet Chihuahuas, especially Whitney, who was at her side, each and every day until her passing. Prior to her illness, she and her husband also maintained a second home in San Jose, Costa Rica, where for several years she operated a health care recovery facility for post-operative surgical patients. She also had a wealth of friends from many countries. Above all, she loved and was dedicated to her family and friends, especially her son Ryan, her husband Tommy, and mother Delores. She is preceded in death by her only son, Ryan, and sister-in-law, Bonnie Vickers. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Tommy; her brother, Dan (Pap) Dantino (Barbara Hackney) of Holly Hill, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sandra VonKaas (Robert), Port Orange, Florida; and her brother-in-law, Roger O'Neal, San Jose, Costa Rica; numerous grand nieces, grand nephews, and cousins; as well as caregivers, Caroline Garcia and Rosemary Vargas, of San Jose, Costa Rica. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Nita's name to either VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 2381 Mason Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL 32117 or the , 378 Centerpointe Circle, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701.
