Richard D. LaRue, 58, passed away January 11, 2013 in Port Orange. He was born in
Northville, Michigan to Jim and Maxine LaRue. As a young man, Rick was a fine athlete, and he attended Eastern Michigan University on a baseball scholarship. After moving to Volusia County about 35 years ago, Rick worked first in car sales and then settled into a career as an air conditioning technician. He continued his interest in sports both as a participant and as an avid fan of the University of Michigan. Rick was an excellent golfer, and loved animals. He was predeceased by his father Jim. He was the beloved son of mother Maxine LaRue, brother Terry (Lynn) LaRue and sister Sue (Ernie) Espiritu, and the loving uncle of Jennifer (Scott) Peace, Michelle (Fred) Bullard, and Steve LaRue. Donations may be made in Rick's name to Halifax Humane Society and/or Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia Flagler. Arrangements are directed by Cardwell Funeral Home.
