On February 16, 2013, Robert A. Murphy of Ormond Beach slipped away to peace and comfort after a valiant battle with small cell lung cancer. Bob was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 26, 1945 to the late James Edward Murphy and Marion F. Spillane. He was raised in his early years by his Grandmother Ruth Titus Murphy. He attended school in Douglas, MA. After completing high school, he joined the United States Air Force and spent 4 years overseas at various military posts. He loved to dance and was an avid race car fan. He was predeceased by his wife Anna Curtis Murphy, whom he adored, and his step son-in-law Greg Veith. He is survived by his devoted companion and dance partner, Bettie Krouse McMullen. Left to morn are his loving step children, Catherine Comino, Steven Curtis, Mark Curtis and Lisa Hafeli, 13 step Grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. He will be greatly missed by all his Racing North Turn family. He loved them one and all and appreciated all their love and caring during his battle with cancer. Bob was a kind and loving friend and never met a stranger. He was always the gentleman with a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all whose life he touched. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 AM February 21, 2013 at Racing North Turn in Ponce Inlet, FL.
