Robert N. (Bob) Ash

Robert N. Ash (Bob), 91, passed away at his home in Port Orange on June 26, 2014. He was born in Chicago and grew up in the Philadelphia area. During World War II he served in the Pacific Theater, as part of the Army Security Agency. After the war, he married Joanne Hutton, and was employed at the National Security Agency
for 33 years as a cryptanalyst. Upon retiring in 1978, he moved from Severna Park, MD to this area. Bob served as a deacon, an elder and treasurer of First Presbyterian Church, Daytona Beach. He was also a director and treasurer of his homeowners' association for 25 years. Bob enjoyed reading, sports, gardening, walking, and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, and is survived by three children, Robert L. Ash (Suzanne) of Bethesda, MD, Barbara S. Bowden (Denny) of Ormond Beach, Martha E. Ash of Port Orange, and three grandchildren, Laura Yang (Danny), Robert Bowden, and Christine Ash. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Daytona Beach at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9th. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 620 S.
