Ross Russell Paterniti, 90, Daytona Beach area since 1947. He was born September 24, 1922 in Jamestown, NY, and passed away November 20, 2012. Ross was married June 21, 1947 at the First Congregational Church, Jamestown, NY to His Loving Wife, Marguerite (Richmond) Paterniti, for 65 years. Military Service: Joined Navy - January 7, 1943, Discharged March 3, 1946 - Served during World War II as a Torpedo, Gunner Radio and Aviation Communications Expert on the USS Sergeant Bay. Received the Bronze Medal and Citation for Anti-sub Patrol, the Victory Medal and Air Crewman Wings. Work History: Pure Ice Company (Daytona Beach) Ice Routes - from 1948 to 1960; Prudential Insurance Company of America, CLU - 35 years, retired in 1995. Organizations and memberships: First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach since 1970; Sunset Lions Club of Daytona Beach- Charter Member - since its inception in 1956 thru 2006- 50 years of service - President 1986-87 - Held all offices during the 50 years of service; Quarterback Club. Hobbies and Interest: Church, entertaining friends and family from the Daytona Beach area and abroad, spending summers at home in Boone, NC, tennis, fishing and square dancing. Surviving Relatives: wife Marguerite Paterniti; sons—Daniel (wife Debra), Ormond Beach; Edward (wife Bonnie), Ormond Beach; Mark (wife Shirley), Daytona Beach Shores; daughter Dawn (husband Jeff), Ormond Beach; grandchildren: Gina Albright, Mt. Olive, NC; Nicole Harper, DeLand, FL; David Paterniti, Ormond Beach, FL; John Althouse, Port Orange, FL; Holly Creese, Townsend, DE; Matthew Paterniti, Santa Ana, CA; Amy Paterniti, Port Orange, FL; Sarah Uhlein, Berkeley, CA; Erin Uhlein, Cocoa Beach, FL; Caleb Uhlein, Ormond Beach, FL; great-grandchildren: Seth and Sadie Albright, Mt. Olive, NC; Eli Harper, DeLand, FL; Cory Hatton, Townsend, DE; Aspyn Creese, Townsend, DE; Kelsie Thomas, Port Orange, FL; several nieces and nephews. Ross was predeceased by his parents Sebastiano and Rosario Paterniti; and four brothers: Anthony, Joseph, Sam and Sebastian Paterniti. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach, 336 S. Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach, FL.
