WALLACE HUSTON HENDERSON Jr.

Wallace Huston Henderson, Jr., 83, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away December 26, 2012. Wally was born July 11, 1929 to Wallace Huston Henderson, Sr. and Genevieve Finkbeiner Henderson in Wheeling, WV. He graduated Tridelphia High School in Wheeling in 1947 and was accepted to Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh but enlisted in the U.S. Army due to the family's economic issues. He served two tours of duty in Korea in the Signal Corps reaching the rank of Staff Sargent. In 1952 he married Suzanne Meglich the only child of David and Vera Foster Meglich of West Alexander, PA. The couple moved to Summersville, WV in 1953 where Wally and his brother-in-law Robert Wharton founded a coal mining supply company, Crest Supply, which is still in operation today. Wally and Suzanne had two sons; David of Ormond Beach and Robert Bruce of Seattle, WA. He and Suzanne moved permanently to Ormond Beach in 2006 after wintering in Ormond since 2000. Suzanne pre-deceased him in 2008 after a seven year battle with cancer. Wally was a private pilot, 32nd degree Mason, an accomplished world wide big game hunter, outdoorsman, and expert radio control scale model airplane builder. He is survived by his sons, David and Bruce; grand- children Nathan Alan Henderson of Columbia, SC, Nicole Henderson Barnes of Port Charlotte, Melissa Suzanne Henderson of Jacksonville, Jacob Henderson of Seattle, WA, Suzanne Henderson of Seattle WA; and great-grandson Wallace Pate Henderson of Columbia, SC. Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 6:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. In lieu of flowers please send donations made out to Wally's Squadron RC Flyers, in care of David Henderson, 305 Memorial Medical Parkway, Suite 301, Daytona Beach FL 32117.
