Willis "Sonny" Armstrong

Willis "Sonny" Armstrong was born in Hot Springs, Virginia to Ollie and Charles E Armstrong on May 18, 1935 and died March 16, 2014. Sonny graduated from Valley High School, American University In Washington, D.C. He was a veteran of The U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Detective from the Fairfax County Police Department, Fairfax, Va. He was also retired from the Florida Department of Corrections, Parole and Probation. Sonny was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge #2193 in Ormond Beach, Florida. He was an Exalted Ruler three times in Daytona Beach and Port Orange, Florida. He became Grand Exalted Ruler of the National Elks Association. He was also a member of the Eagles in Port Orange and the Moose Lodge in Ormond Beach. Sonny is survived by his wife Patricia, two children Michael of North Dakota and, Gina Wolfer of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, Ronnie and Michael, two great-grand-children Alex and Michael, three sisters, Susan Kershner and Joy Chestnut of Hot Springs, VA and Merilyn Lake of Reno, Nevada. Three sisters preceded him in death, Ellen DiGiralamo, Audrey Sherlock and Marie Wiley. A memorial service will be held 5:00 PM Saturday, April 5 at Ormond Beach Elks Lodge.
