Ruth Cogan Obituary

Funeral service for Ruth A. Cogan, 84, North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, who died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Dudley Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach. The Rev. David Keazirian, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, New Smyrna Beach, will officiate. Private burial will be in Daytona Memorial Park, Daytona Beach. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the service time Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Cogan, affectionately known as "Aunt Ruth," was born in Butler, Pa., and moved to the area in 1955 from Bloomfield, N.J. She was a quality control group leader for the former Sherwood Medical Industries, DeLand, for 25 years before her retirement. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Regional Library Craft Group and AARP Craft Group all in New Smyrna Beach. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, watercolor painting, and was an avid Elvis fan. She is survived by her brother, George Morrison, New Castle, Pa.; stepdaughter, Mary Riordan, Edgewater; stepgrandsons, Harry and Rick Coyle; and numerous nephews and nieces, including Peggy Berger, New Smyrna Beach, who provided for her care. Memorial donations suggested to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
