Alice J. Scheld, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Hospice of Volusia in Port Orange. Alice was born September 4, 1920 to Emily and Frederick Waller of Hartford, CT. She married her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) of 71 years on October 18, 1941. During WW11 while Bob was serving in the US Marine Corp Alice worked at the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT. They resided in Connecticut until 1960 when they moved to Ormond Beach. Alice was known for her love of dance. She performed and taught dance for many years. She was a member of the Palmetto Club and danced in the Follies. Alice made a house a home for her family. She loved to sew, crochet, knit and bake. She also enjoyed traveling. She and Bob traveled to many beautiful destinations. Alice and Bob were long time members of Oceanside Country Club and the Halifax River Yacht Club where Bob served as Commodore in 1966. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Ethel Biermacher, Emily Fassbinder, Ruth Vassallo and brothers, Albert, Raymond, Edward and Robert Waller. She is survived by her loving husband Robert (Bob), daughters, Gail Sikorski (Don), Ormond Beach, and Cheryl Nicholson (Rick), Ft. Walton Beach, her grandchildren Donnie Sikorski (Shilo), Ormond Beach, Greg Sikorski (Vilima), Palm Coast, Kristina Redd (Jason), Shalimar, Steven Nicholson (Rachael), Tallahassee and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Edna Whitehouse (Eddie), Vernon, Ct. and Marion Gauvin, Ormond Beach and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind several close, wonderful friends. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends but we will hold the beautiful memories of sweet little Alice close to our hearts. The family wishes to extend our gratitude to the Hospice staff for their kind and compassionate care of our loved one. A memorial service will be held 11:00AM Wednesday January 16, 2013 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
