Mrs. America Torres, age 77, of Finland Drive, Deltona died July 15, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Torres was born on March 7, 1935 in New York City, New York, the daughter of Juliano Ramirez and Juana Anaguilla. She was united in marriage to Francisco Torres. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Deltona with her favorite Saint being Saint Jude. She was always a dignified and classy lady with a great sense of humor who had a knack for making everyone feel warm and at home. She had an addictive, full bodied laugh. She loved to decorate her home and enjoyed her family. Other things she enjoyed included classic movies, sewing, crocheting, sketching, crossword puzzles, casinos, and dancing to Latin music. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Francisco; two daughters, Alicia (Mack) McMullen of Peekskill, NY and Ada Luna of Oakland, CA; two sons, Joseph (Diane) Torres of Edgewater, FL and Luis (Diana) Torres of Lake Alfred, FL; many grandchildren; a brother, Pepe Guerrero of Brooklyn, NY; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Juliano Ramirez; her mother, Juana Paris; a daughter, Bruni Mendez; a son, Frank Torres; and a sister, Mercedes Rodriguez. Friends may pay their final respects on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from noon till 4:00 pm at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, FL, PH: 386-775-4260. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home with Father Frank Cerio officiating. In celebration of America and her life, and as a token of appreciation of support, friends are welcome to join the family for food and beverages at the funeral home during this same afternoon. A private burial service for immediate family will be held at a later date.
