Barbara Ann Ashwood "Ann", 75, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 14th, 2013. She was born in Hulbert, Arkansas on July 31, 1937 to Amos and Mildred Neal and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. She attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas where she met her husband, Dr. Edward Lee Ashwood. In 1972, she and her family moved to DeLand, Florida. She was a devoted wife, mother, "Honey" to her grandchildren, homemaker, and friend. In 2007, she was preceded in death by husband of 50 years, Edward. Friends and family admired her joyfulness, generosity, and great style. However, Ann will be best remembered for her steadfast faith in Christ and dedication to loved ones. Among her friends are those with whom she played bridge for over 30 years as well as those with whom she served in the Junior League of DeLand, the Daisy Circle of the DeLand Garden Club, the Alzheimer's Association, and the West Volusia Women's Medical Auxiliary. She was also active in numerous church and bible study groups throughout her life. She is survived by her children: daughter, Angela Ashwood of DeLand; son, Jeffrey Ashwood, his wife, Kayla, and their three children Elizabeth (17), Emma (12), and Ethan (8) of Houston, Texas; daughter Allison Gregory, her husband, Eric, and their two sons, Isaac (5) and James (4) of Richmond, Virginia; daughter, Andrea Scott, her husband, Sam, and their daughter Madison (23 months) of DeLand, Florida; daughter, Elyse Ashwood , and her son Edward (7 months) of DeLand, Florida and her adopted daughter Trang Vu Pham Ashwood of Milpitas, California. Additionally, she is survived by two brothers, Robert "Bob" Neal of Memphis, Tennessee and Larry Neal of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The memorial service and committal will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 20th at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church with the Very Reverend Brian Garrison presiding. A reception will follow in the St. Barnabas Canterbury House. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 319 West Wisconsin Avenue, DeLand, Florida, phone (386) 734-1814 or to Life Outreach International Water for Life Mission, P.O.
