Celebration of Life for Betty Ann DeJong, longtime resident of Deland who passed away September 9, 2013, will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 21 at First Baptist Church Daytona Beach. To honor Betty, we are asking everyone who attends to wear any shade of blue. Betty was born in St Louis, MO and came to this area in 1983 after a life of world travel and living abroad. She was a member of Stetson Baptist Church where she enjoyed Women's Ministries. Since she was very compassionate, patient, and loving, her greatest pleasure was being with family and friends. Her creativity and intelligence was not limited to jewelry design and crocheting, she was also an accomplished seamstress. Bowling was her favorite sport and at the age of 80, she even bowled a 191 game. Because of her talent and love for music, she continued piano lessons all her life. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Linda Miller-White of Port Orange, FL and son, Brent DeJong of Deland; two granddaughters, Traci Miller McCarthy and Toni Miller Perry; and four great grandchildren and a host of friends. Because she loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, the family is comforted knowing she is in Heaven and we will all be reunited again soon. Memorial donations are requested to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
