Billy Joe Kingery, 87, of New Smyrna Beach, joined his wife, (Athelyn), in Heaven. He had said that it was the trip that he looked forward to most. Billy Joe was born on July 30, 1926
in Yawkey, West Virginia to Posie and Della Hale Kingery. Shortly after graduating from Duval High School, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and became one of the greatest generation. He served in the Pacific theater as Private First Class. Upon returning to civilian life, he worked and retired from Union Carbide, Linde Division. He and his wife retired to Florida in 1986. Billy Joe enjoyed his retirement growing flowers, sitting on the porch with his wife and entertaining family and friends. In his early years, he discovered his love and talent of oil paintings, painting memorable places in West Virginia. He leaves behind a most loving and dedicated family. He is survived by his son, Alan (Beth) of Poca, West Virginia, and their children, Alex, Matthew and Sarah; his daughter, Billie (Mike) Dotson of New Smyrna Beach, and their children, Jenny and Natalie; he also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren and the 8th due any day now. A celebration of this great man will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, West Virginia with family and friends gathering one hour prior to the service.
