CARL FOX Obituary


Carl T. Fox, Jr., of Port Orange, FL, died on October 31, 2010 at the Volusia/ Flagler Hospice of Port Orange of complications after surgery. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Thurs., Nov. 4, 2010 at United Presbyterian Church, 730 Beville Rd., Daytona Beach with the Rev. Bob Anderson officiating. Visitation will start at 9 am until service time. Interment will follow at FL National Cemetery at 2:30 pm on Thurs., Nov. 4, 2010 in Bushnell, FL. Carl was born in Jamestown, New York on June 16th, 1925. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1943, served in the US Army during World War II until he was wounded at the age of 19, and was medically discharged. On April 19th, 1947, Carl married the love of his life, Donna Vettenburg and they lived in Jamestown until his retirement from Chautauqua Hardware Corporation as Vice President of Purchasing. They were long-time committed members of First Covenant Church in Jamestown. The couple moved to Atlanta Georgia in 1988, where they were active members of the North Avenue Presbyterian Church. They moved to Port Orange in 2001 and joined the United Presbyterian Church of Daytona Beach where Carl has served in many capacities over the years. He loved spending time with his family, serving his Lord, and enjoyed many hobbies including leather tooling, wood working and carving, and always had a song in his heart. A lover, of learning, Carl continued his education through many workshops, and continual studies in various college seminars, classes and correspondence courses. Throughout his life he was active in many civic organizations. He is survived by his wife, Donna Fox; his children, Karen Fox and her husband, Charles Eastham, Gregory Fox and his wife, Patricia, Cynthia Alpaugh, and her husband, Andrew; grandchildren, Abbey Hansen and her husband, Jason, Aaron Krohmer, Ashley Eastham, Lars Fox and his wife, Abby, Cherstin Byers and her husband, Tom, Joshua Alpaugh and wife, Carrie, Jeremiah Alpaugh and wife, Melissa, and Marissa Hamilton and husband, Michael; and 12 great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews; and by his brother, Raymond Fox; and sister, Vivian Johnson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marcia Lee, parents, Elna and Carl Fox, brother, Gerald Fox and his sister, Luella Fox.

Dear Greg, Pat and family,
Very sorry to hear of the passing of Carl. He always seemed to be a kind and gentle man and always appreciated music. I especially appreciated him efforts in getting the Arch Brass on tour to Atlanta. Carl will be fondly remembered.
