Denise Anne Staheli, 62, of DeLand, FL, passed away on 4 March 2013. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am at St. Peters Church, 359 W New York Ave, DeLand, FL. A reception will be held at the church immediately after the services. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lankford Funeral Home of DeLand. She was born Denise Beyler on 23 June 1950 in Bath, NY. She graduated from Haverling Central School and continued on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in History from Trinity College in Burlington, VT and a Master's in Education from Florida State University. Denise was married to Walter Staheli of Bath, NY on 23 May 1976; they were sweethearts for thirty seven years. Denise taught school at Deltona Middle School for nine years. She loved being with her family and loved everything about working with young people and teaching. Her life revolved around nurturing young lives and guiding them on life's journey. She enjoyed craft work. The oldest of ten children, Denise is survived by her husband, Lt Col Walter Staheli III, USMC; her sons Walter Staheli IV and his fiancé Corinne Oliphant of Richmond Hill, GA and Capt Daniel Staheli, USMC, of Pinehurst, NC; her grandson Tyler, also of Richmond Hill, GA; her mother Lenore of New Smyrna Beach; brothers Mitchell, Greg, Danny, Randy, Matthew, and Michael; and sisters Gail and Eileen. Denise is preceded in death by her father Gregory and her brother Douglas. In lieu of flowers, tell your family and loved ones how much they mean to you. Don't just send your children to school, help educate them every day through example and support those who work tirelessly on your behalf within the school system. Schools are there to impart knowledge; parents are there to build lives.
