Don Cribbs, 78, of New Smyrna Beach, a mechanical engineer and crew chief on Launch Pad B at Kennedy Space Center before his retirement, passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 after on long illness. Don was born in Screven, GA and served in the U.S. Air Force as a crew chief in the Strategic Air Command. He was a member of the American Legion Post #17 and Masonic Lodge #149, F & AM, both in New Smyrna Beach and enjoyed fishing and cooking. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Sally Jo Cribbs; three sons, Tony Cribbs of Edgewater and Donnie and Jamie Cribbs, both of Tonawanda, NY; one daughter, Tammy Kimball of Chugiak, Alaska; two step sons, Bill Shiles, Jr. of Sunset Beach, NC and Bob Shiles of Port Orange; one step daughter, Becki Shiles of New Smyrna Beach; one brother, Ben Cribbs of Edgewater; one sister, Maxine Westberry of Brunswick, GA; two grandchildren and five step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Cribbs; a sister, Ouida Proulx and a step son, Blake Shiles. Memorial service will be 2 PM Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Dudley Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach with Rev. Judson Douglass, Pastor, Indian River Baptist Church, Edgewater, officiating. Cremation will be by Dudley Crematory, New Smyrna Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, Attn: Southeast Volusia Care Center, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
