Cyrus Edwin Watts, 89, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 25, with family at his side. Ed, former U.S. Navy officer and retired Sears and Roebuck buyer, moved to Ormond Beach from Marietta, Georgia in 1993 to continue his longtime love of golf in Plantation Bay. Ed was born in Anson County, North Carolina, one of eight kids born to James and Blanche Watts. After graduating from Elon College, he served in the Navy in World War II and the Korean War and left the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolynne Shuford Watts; as well as a sister, Jo Watts Williams (Elon, N.C.); children Alan Watts (Atlanta), Camille Watts (Toronto) and Lisa Watts Kuehler (New Smyrna Beach); and grandsons Dirk, Brad and Jack Kuehler. He was predeceased by daughter Carolee Watts, who died in infancy. A family service will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a future date. The family thanks the staff at Florida Hospital Memorial Hospice for their loving care.
