Edward J. Kovacs, 91, passed away on April 18, 2014. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11:00 A.M at Church of the Epiphany, 201 Lafayette St, Port Orange, FL 32127. Edward was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late John and Mary Kovacs. He later served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers in Europe during WWII. Edward earned three Bronze Service Stars for his service. He was a member of the VFW Post 3282, was an Honor Guard for a period of time and he was a lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a devout member of Church of the Epiphany; he enjoyed fishing, reading, and organizing bingo at the VFW. Edward is preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Those left to cherish Edward's memory are his wife of 51 years, Carol; daughters, Elizabeth Kovacs, Theresa Skaggs, Sue Kaufmann; son, Andrew Kovacs and six grandchildren.
