- Efrain (Frank) Gonzalez, 63 passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012. He was born on February 20, 1949, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Baltazar Gonzalez Martinez and Luz Maria Cruz Gonzalez. Frank served as a U.S. Marine Corps service member during the Vietnam era and received the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with palm. He was a deeply patriotic veteran and an especially proud Marine, even as the disabilities from his war experience led to his untimely demise. He grew up on the tough streets of Philadelphia, PA and retired from a public service career in the County of Ramsey, St. Paul-Minneapolis, MN, working in the department that maintained the nicer, but colder, streets of the famous Twin-Cities. Frank will be remembered as a tremendously compassionate person that rendered a lifetime portion of love and kindness in his brusque manner. He served as a father figure for his siblings and his teenage son, resulting in 50 years in this role. Frank was an ideal father and stepfather because he blended the care and nurturing of families long before the blending of families became fashionable. Frank was also an ideal lifetime partner with his wife, Diane Gonzalez. They enjoyed their time together in Minnesota and Florida and shared their loved for each other with those around them. Aside from the disputes that make a marriage stronger, there are many endearing family stories and piles of pictures of Frank and Diane, that show their love for their children or stepchildren. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Diane Gonzalez and his sons, Frank Jr., Matthew and Logan; stepdaughters, Sarah Museus and Jennifer Bradigan; five grandchildren, Cody, Brianna, Kayla, Savanna Gonzalez and Haylie Tourville, and his much beloved dog, Marine. Other surviving family members include, his Uncle Esteban and Aunt Virginia Cruz, Philadelphia, PA; brothers and sisters, Mickey and Hui Chung Gonzalez, Columbia, SC and their children, Carmen, Crystal and Mathew; Robert Gonzalez and Emine Gunhan, Davis, CA, and their children, Brittany, Ashley, Destina and Ilayda; Miriam and Felix Cardona, and their child Felix from Coamo, PR; Nellie Myers and Gary Bugnacki, and their children Erica Marie, Tori from Deltona, FL; Carmen Gonzalez and her son Billy, Philadelphia, PA; and Johnny and Linda Gonzalez, Rosemont, PA and their children, Melissa, Katie and Christopher Gonzalez. Arrangements under the care of Heritage Cremation and Memorial Chapel, 620 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange, 32127.
