A celebration of life service for Eldon E. Beach, 91, who joined the angels in Heaven on May 3, 2012, long time resident and building contractor of Daytona Beach, will be held on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 3:00pm at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home Chapel, 167 Ridgewood Avenue, Holly Hill with Chaplain Laura Bassett officiating. A celebration of life reception will follow the service at the home of his daughter Joanne Bass. Mr. Beach was born on January 2, 1921 in Lima, Ohio to Bernard and Leona Beach. He moved to this area in 1925 and graduated from Mainland High School in 1940. He then became thoroughly active in the local community, serving as President of the Kiwanis Club, becoming Life Fellow of the Kiwanis Club of Florida, the Men's Brotherhood, and the American Federation of the Blind. He was very active in the Baptist Church and mission work. He valiantly served our country in the United States Air Force in the C.B.I., flying C47s. He loved music and auto racing, watching the very first races on the North turn on the beach. Survivors include his two daughters Eve Lantz of Charlotte, NC and Joanne Bass, of Port Orange, FL; two grandchildren Jonathan Bass of Atlanta, GA and Stephanie Lang of Crescent City, FL; one great-granddaughter Alanna Lang of Crescent City, FL; and special caretaker and extended family, Susan Oliver of Deltona, FL. The family would like to send a special "thank you" to all of the caring staff and volunteers at both the Port Orange and Edgewater Hospice of Volusia/Flagler locations. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129 or Aspire Higher Boys Mentoring Group, Spruce Creek High School, 801 Taylor Road, Port Orange, FL 32127 (make checks payable to Spruce Creek High School).
